I know. I keep taking pictures of this chimney. This is the worst area of damage we have in the attic. Again, it doesn't seem to have ruined the integrity of the wood itself, and I think I'll be able to correct it in the spring.
South side.
Just another view of the south side.
I've been putting off the nasty job of pulling the old insulation material out and away from the eaves.
North side, a little north of midpoint.
Although it looks ugly in this picture, the wood around the inactive chimney is not at all damaged. The blackened area is from the chimney itself rather than from water damage.
Moving this louvre up won't be a problem, since it looks like it once held a larger vent anyhow.
